HUBs as Key Players in Regional Policy

Catania, 5 June 2025 - As part of EU Green Week, the 1st BioINSouth Forum in Catania hosted a roundtable titled “The Role of HUBs in the Implementation of New Regional Policies for the Bioeconomy”, bringing together speakers from Italy, Greece, Spain, France, and Slovenia. Moderated by Pierluigi Argoneto (SPRING Cluster), the discussion focused on how national HUBs can act as public–private platforms to drive sustainable bioeconomy policy at the regional level.

Lucija Marovt, representing Circular Change and the Boost4Bioeast project, took part on behalf of the BIOEAST HUB Slovenia. She emphasized that the Slovenian HUB serves as a bridge between high-level strategy and on-the-ground implementation, connecting institutions, businesses, academia, and civil society to enable systemic change. “Slovenia’s HUB serves as a living interface between strategy and society,” she stated. “We are proud to co-create this shift – from policy paper to community practice.”

Lucija highlighted the importance of public dialogue, youth engagement, and European collaboration through platforms like ECESP, which enable the exchange of knowledge and good practices. The session underscored the need for HUBs to evolve beyond dialogue spaces into long-term policy co-creators with real transformative impact.
