The Roadmap for Smart and Sustainable Tourism in Ljubljana 2023 - 2027

Title: The Roadmap for Smart and Sustainable Tourism in Ljubljana 2023 - 2027

Duration: February - November 2023

Description:
The Ljubljana Destination Management Organisation (DMO) Turizem Ljubljana chose Circular Change as the partner to develop the Roadmap for Smart and Sustainable Tourism in Ljubljana 2023 - 2027. The roadmap is a document and a process that involves numerous stakeholders of the Ljubljana tourism ecosystem and aims to establish a basis for further action towards strengthening the already admirable position of Ljubljana as a smart and sustainable destination.

The roadmap builds on the existing strategies that are in place on national and destination level, and the directions set with this roadmap support achieving the strategic goals. It is also explicitly stakeholder-centric, meaning that the goals, visions and concerns expressed by stakeholders of the touristic ecosystem in Ljubljana were a key input for proposing new actions.

During the process that is now in the stage of finalisation, we held two workshops, numerous interviews and utilised digital channels to gather inputs from relevant stakeholders. The response from the stakeholders was a true inspiration, showing their strong will to be included, collaborate on joint initiatives and take active roles in realisation of the measures.

Based on all the inputs and existing examples of best practices, we identified 8 main domains where Ljubljana will implement further action towards sustainable and smart tourism. To support the realisation, cross-stakeholder work groups will be established that will begin functioning after the launch of the roadmap.

The process is once again showing the importance of finding synergies between various projects and initiatives, connecting stakeholders and aligning along common threads of interest. We are looking forward to the launch.
