ECESP Annual Conference 2023

On 27 and 28 February 2023, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and the European Commission hosted the 2023 European Circular Economy Stakeholder Conference. Around 350 participants joined in person on Day 1, however, the event had also a very strong online participation - almost 500 connections to the MeetYoo platform and 1000+ on the European Commission webstreaming page were made.

The sixth Conference brought together Europe’s biggest circular economy stakeholders to focus on the role of the circular economy in driving sustainable recovery, open strategic autonomy and resilience. The two-day event was an opportunity to present the circular economy as a key factor in building resource independence and resilience while ensuring that policy objectives are linked to sustainable consumption and production.

The first day, 27 February 2023, was hosted by the European Commission. The participants focused on the main issues at the heart of the negotiations taking place in 2023 and looked back at the initiatives adopted in 2022 by the Commission.

The second day, 28 February 2023, focused on stakeholders' views in a series of sessions and two interactive workshops, grouped under Biodiversity and climate and Resilience for Europe. Additionally, a Networking Village was hosted online and onsite. It was an exhibition space where a selection of Circular Economy stakeholders were able to share their good practices and pitch their projects to a broader audience.

The founder and executive director of Circular Change, Ladeja Godina Košir is also a co-chair of the ECESP, which is why she had a visible role at the event. Ladejal participated in the first panel of Day 1 with her speeach titled A key year for the circular economy to foster resource efficiency.
