How can businesses remain competitive in a world of disrupted supply chains, volatile resource prices and growing systemic risks? This question will be at the centre of an upcoming virtual roundtable organised by the University of Ljubljana, bringing together perspectives from engineering, economics and practice to explore the evolving role of circular and regenerative economy models.
The discussion is organised by the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineeringand the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana, as part of the CPOEF E-TALK series.
Why this discussion matters
From the COVID-19 pandemic to geopolitical tensions and resource volatility, recent years have exposed the fragility of global supply chains. What was once considered a sustainability topic is now becoming a core business concern — linked to costs, resilience and long-term competitiveness.
Two approaches are gaining increasing attention: circular economy - focusing on resource efficiency, closing material loops and reducing dependency on virgin inputs, and regenerative economy -going a step further, asking how economic systems can actively restore natural and social systems.
But how do these approaches translate into real business decisions? And can they help organisations navigate uncertainty more effectively?
Speakers
The roundtable will bring together:
Ladeja Godina Košir, Founder and Executive Director of Circular Change and Chair of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (ECESP),
Žiga Turk, Professor, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering,
Maja Zalaznik, Professor, School of Economics and Business
What to expect
The discussion will explore:where circular approaches already reduce risks and costs in practice, how organisations can start — in ways that are feasible and measurable, what circular and regenerative models mean for procurement, processes and partnerships. and whether regenerative economy represents the next step beyond circular economy.
