The new volume Sustainable Innovation Cultures, published on 15 December by DeGruyter in open access, brings forward a comprehensive perspective on how organisations can build resilient, value-driven and future-proof innovation cultures.
The book, authored and edited by Henning Breuer and Kiril Ivanov together with a distinguished network of international contributors, arrives at a time when sustainable innovation is becoming a strategic imperative across sectors.
Among the contributors is Ladeja Godina Košir, Founder and Director of Circular Change and Chair of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (ECESP). In her chapter, she offers an in-depth reflection on more than a decade of pioneering circular transformation in Europe and beyond.
Her contribution highlights the cultural and systemic dimensions of the transition to a circular economy—emphasising network governance, the role of transition brokers, and the importance of shared values and collaboration in driving long-term change. Drawing from experience with national circular economy roadmaps, international platforms, and multi-stakeholder engagement processes, she demonstrates why culture is the foundation upon which effective sustainability strategies must be built.
The publication outlines proven methods and practical insights from companies and institutions that have made sustainable innovation a core element of their competitive edge. It provides tools, frameworks and real-world examples to help organisations navigate environmental and regulatory complexity while strengthening long-term resilience.
The book will be available online with open access, accompanied by a podcast and additional materials that further explore the themes covered.
