Matevž Čelik

Matevž Čelik is architect and architectural researcher. In addition to his critical and editorial work, he has worked on projects of urban renewal and urban management and led the preparation of key public architectural competitions in Slovenia, including projects of the European capital of culture in Maribor 2012 and new University Library in Ljubljana. Matevž Čelik was a co-founder and editor of, which became a key point of information about architecture and design in Slovenia in 2002. Until 2011, he has been a member of the editorial board of Oris magazine in Zagreb. In 2007, he published a book New Architecture in Slovenia with international publisher Springer Wien New York. Since 2010, Matevž Čelik is director of the Museum of Architecture and design (MAO) in Ljubljana. Newly re-established national institution since then became a dynamic place of exchange and discourse. Since 2015 he is a founder and leader of the Future Architecture platform, European network of cultural operators that supports emerging talents and promotes future thinking.
