Maja Johannessen

Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Government and Cities Associate


Maja finished her Masters in Technological and Socio-Economic Planning in the summer 2015 at Roskilde University in Denmark. As part of her Masters programme she specialised in circular solutions to plastic waste issues from a governance perspective, culminating in a Masters thesis, “Recycling Retail Plastic Packing”. During her studies Maja worked on several international projects where she gained experience on strategic energy planning.

Maja not only moved to the Isle of Wight to support the work of the Foundation but also to enjoy the many possibilities for outdoors activities on land and water.

Maja joined the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to strengthen the CE100 Government & Cities team. She focuses on supporting public bodies and SMEs of the network in driving circular economy initiatives. She supports the development and international expansion of the programme.
